This is the Official Website of the UNIVERSAL ISSHIN-RYU KARATE ASSOCIATION and the PETE MILLS SCHOOL OF ISSHIN-RYU KARATE located in Knoxville, Tennessee. This website is dedicated to the growth and support of all practitioners of Isshin-ryu Karate under the guidance of Grandmaster Pete Mills, the schools founder, 10th degree black belt and head of the Universal Isshin-ryu Karate Association.  He has been training in the martial arts for over 45 years.

We now have 4 separate locations to choose from in Karns, 2 in Fountain City and Kodak.  Though each school is different, we are all based in churches and have little or no overhead; therefore you will find our fees are very nominal, if not free.  We teach because we love what we do.  Each instructor has a "Clark Kent" job during the day and does not rely on teaching for income.  It is our goal to make sure everyone has access to learn this precious art and we do not want something like money to stand in anyone's way of reaching their goals in the martial arts.
